One of the fundamental courses for the Biosystems Engineering track, this course is designed to provide a firm base to undergraduate students to explore more advanced courses in the subsequent semesters. This course includes topics like introduction to molecular biology and history of developments in the field, central dogma, nucleic acid structures and their function as information pathways, transcription, translation, gene expression and regulation, molecular biology techniques for nucleic acids and proteins, application in molecular diagnostics, agriculture and food industries, model organisms and systems for molecular developmental biology.
